| This a training video for those who work in a school-age care setting. Emily Holder, of St. Paul, Minnesota, leads a group of children through a craft--the creation of Guatemalan Cats. This is a live, non-staged setting, where Emily works with the children in this art project.
The video is used primarily as a tool to help adults become better observers of children. When adults can be careful observers, then intervention in behavior issues becomes more effective. The video comes with a discussion guide, so a staff can watch the video together and discuss what they each observe.
After the art project is over, Emily reflects on what happened. She reflects on the children and their particular needs, and what her real goals were in the process.
